PHILOSOPHY

Hello! My name is Melissa Anderson, and I am a Registered Social Worker with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers. I obtained an Honours Bachelor of Arts from the University of Waterloo, a Master of Arts from the University of Guelph, and a Master’s in Social Work from Laurentian University. I have over 20 years of experience working in the field of mental health with children, youth, adults, couples, and families. I am very passionate about the field and strive to provide a safe and secure space for all individuals to heal and grow.
I use a variety of techniques and modalities in my every day practice including cognitive-behavioural therapy, cognitive processing therapy, dialectical behaviour therapy, mindfulness-based stress reduction, and emotion focused therapy. I am also an Accredited Certified EFT Practitioner, and am a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT-200).
I recognize that everyone’s needs are unique and tailor plans to match your needs, your goals and your expertise. I believe that wellness is achieved in exploring the needs of the whole body. I have experience working with anxiety, depression, grief, suicidality, self-harm, eating disorders, trauma, family systems, addictions, parenting needs and behaviour challenges. My approach is supportive, compassionate, and non-judgmental to challenge troublesome thinking patterns and learn new ways of coping to help instill hope, achieve emotion regulation, and a sense of love and belonging

COST: $140 for 50 minutes
EFT is a form of Energy Psychology that is based on the ancient Chinese meridian energy system. It is based on the concept that negative emotions are the result of a disruption in the body’s energy system. EFT is used to clear the energy block or disruption by tapping on the end points of the body’s meridian systems. Focusing on a specific issue and tapping on end points of meridians sends pulses of energy to rebalance the system and rewire the brain’s conditioned responses. EFT works to gently release traumatic memories, phobias, and cravings, as well as limiting beliefs and negative thoughts and emotions.
